The Cosplay Competition will be held on June 27th, during Far West Comic-Con. Enter by filling out the form below. The entry is free and we require all costumes to be 50% made by the wearer. Costumes can be original or based on characters from books, movies, video games, and more. Costumes will be judged on craftsmanship, design integrity, and stage presence.

Far West Comic Con Cosplay Contest Rules

Welcome to the Far West Comic Con Cosplay Contest! We are excited to showcase the creativity and talent of our cosplay community. To ensure a fun, fair, and professional experience for all participants, please adhere to the following official rules:

Eligibility

1. Age Requirement: Contestants under 18 must have parental or guardian consent.
2. Original Work: At least 50% of the contestant’s costume must be made or significantly modified by them. Store-bought or commissioned pieces are allowed but should not exceed 50% of the overall costume.
3. Registration: Contestants must pre-register online or at the designated registration booth at the convention. Space is limited and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Judging Criteria

1. Craftsmanship (50%): Quality of materials, construction techniques, and overall finish.

2. Accuracy (30%): Faithfulness to the character design (if applicable) or creative interpretation.

3. Presentation (20%): Stage presence, confidence, and ability to bring the character to life.

Contest Rules

1. Check-In: Participants must check in at least 30 minutes before the contest begins.

2. Time Limit: Individual performances are limited to 1 minute; group performances to 2 minutes.

3. Prohibited Content:

   • Offensive language or behavior.

   • Replication of harmful or illegal symbols.

   • Excessively revealing costumes.

4. Props: All props must comply with convention safety guidelines. No real or functioning weapons allowed.

5. Costume Integrity: Costumes must not leave residue (e.g., glitter, liquids) on stage or the convention floor.

6. Disqualification: Failure to comply with these rules may result in disqualification at the discretion of the judges or event organizers.

Awards

Winners will be selected in each category and awarded prizes such as:

• Best in Show

• Best Craftsmanship

• Best Presentation

• Category Winner (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Group)

Photo and Video Consent

By participating, contestants agree to have their photos and videos taken during the event. These may be used for promotional purposes by Far West Comic Con.

General Terms

• The event organizers reserve the right to amend these rules at any time.

• Judges’ decisions are final and binding.

• Participants must exhibit good sportsmanship and respect toward fellow contestants, staff, and attendees.
